About

Hi, my name is Christian Hong and I am a Graphic Designer. I am a half Korean, half Danish/English Floridian form Montana. I have had international experience by living in Abu Dhabi for five years, and by visiting Dubai almost every year during summer since high school. I enjoy creating logos, brand campaigns, web design, photography, and vector art. Since I can remember I have always carried around a note book to draw in were ever I go. In high school I learned that I could make a carrier from using my weird artistic skills. Now I am currently studying at Flagler College to become a professional Graphic Designer. I am a hard worker who is obsessed with doing the best work I can do. I strongly believe in being on time, and having work done when a deadline is due. I’m loyal to the people I trust and always look for for the silver lining in life.

Recent Work

A lot of my recent work has been mock up campaigns for different companies and causes. I design logos, videos, posters, websites, and advertisement mock ups. I also enjoy photography and video/photo editing. I enjoyed designing a website for a local restaurant in St. Augustine Florida, however I found the coding process to be very challenging.

My work process usually starts with brainstorming by making moodboards and sketches. I later refine my ideas and sketches before creating digital mock ups. If I’m creating a video I will make a storyboard before recording. After I have finalized work I put all of it in to one organized document explaining my ideas and reasons for design choices. I enjoy my work and I’m proud of it. I Hope you enjoy it as well.

Brief Example

(Vegenaise ad campaign)

This is an example of the kind of design brief I create for a project. I identify key aspects of the project, and explain some of my reasoning for design choices. I state the client I work for, the main message of the campaign, the target audience for the message, barriers the company or product might have, over all idea of the project, and reasons to believe in the company/ product. I make every brief custom for my client, and keep their needs in mind while making it.

Brainstorm and sketches

This is an example of my brainstorming and sketching. I write down ideas that come to me and try to roughly illustrate them. I then refine my ideas and create them in the medium that is needed for my client. For this project I needed to create a print ad for my client Vegenaise.

After I refine and create an ad I mock it up in different media forms. For this project I did different print mock ups. I put my ads on billboards, in magazines, on bus stops, and on wall ads. I really enjoy this work and like to work with Photoshop.

This is an example of the non traditional mock ups I do. In todays age most people who have access to the internet have some form of social media account. This is why I like to utilize social media because it is a cheep and effective way to communicate a message or advertise.

Campaign Logo Example

If I’m creating a campaign for a client I like to create a brand or logo that will coincide with their current identity. For this project I created a campaign for Hubba Bubba Gum about a Big Bubble Challenge. I created print ads, and a video that featured the logo I created.

Photo Editing Example

This is an example of the extreme photo editing skill I have. I am able to do touch ups on photos but the thing I find most fun is when a picture is changes drastically and dramaticly. This picture is a personal project that I worked on for a friend, and had a lot of fun doing it.

This is an example of my web design and coding skill. I enjoyed designing and learning how to code a website, however executing the coding process and getting a site live I found to be a bit of a challenge. For not being a coding professional I felt like I created a functional, easy to navigate website.
